Online Tech Session with Will Bailey

Back to the roots, we brought our online web sessions back!

Last week we hosted a private TeamFirst tech session with Will Bailey from OpenAI.

Will gave the community a deep dive into OpenClaw, one of the fastest growing open-source projects in AI right now and a fascinating example of where agentic systems might be heading.

During the session, Will walked us through:

• what OpenClaw actually is and why engineers are excited about it
• how persistent AI agents work in practice
• real-world use cases, from running parts of a restaurant operation to generating travel guides and managing workflows
• lessons from building products at OpenAI and previously at Instagram, where he helped launch Instagram Stories

What made the discussion especially interesting - as always - was the mix of perspectives in the room. Engineers, product builders, designers and founders joined to explore how systems like this might shape the next phase of AI.

One piece of feedback we heard repeatedly:
While in-person gatherings remain the core of TeamFirst, these technical online sessions are a great complement, especially when we can bring in builders working at the frontier from abroad.
