Impact Investor & Sustainability Advocate

Meet Tomomi Ishida
Impact Investor & Sustainability Advocate 🌱

Born and raised in Japan, Tomomi completed her education locally before pursuing an MBA in the United Kingdom. She later lived and worked in London, where she experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to build meaningful connections in a new city. That experience deepened her appreciation for community and the importance of creating spaces where people can connect beyond work.

Tomomi began her career at Dentsu before expanding her experience across multiple industries, including the United Nations. Today, she works in impact investing, supporting entrepreneurs and technologies tackling environmental and social challenges through investments in renewable energy, sustainability, frontier technologies, and regional revitalization across Japan.

Alongside her work as an investor, Tomomi also runs Impact Share, a Japanese-language media initiative that highlights developments in impact investing and sustainability, helping bring greater visibility to the people and ideas shaping a more sustainable future.

What are you currently building?

Supporting mission-driven founders through impact investing while growing Impact Share, a media platform that spotlights sustainability, climate innovation, and the impact ecosystem in Japan.

What excites you about Japan?

Japan's untapped potential in sustainability, impact investing, and regional innovation. She believes many of the country's greatest strengths and local communities deserve far more global attention.

A risk that changed your trajectory?

Leaving Dentsu. Many saw it as a risky decision, but Tomomi actually believed staying in the same place would have been the bigger risk. Since then, she's built a career across multiple industries, continuously seeking new opportunities to learn and grow.

A habit that has had the biggest impact?

Running. What started as a way to maintain routine and mental well-being during the COVID lockdown has become a lasting habit that helps her stay grounded, healthy, and resilient.

Advice for your 20s?

If you're curious about something, try it. Whether it's a new job, community, hobby, or opportunity, you'll learn far more from trying and failing than from wondering "what if."
